Outer Banks Events Calendar
A slow fall week at the house still leaves room for a festival, a tournament, or a lighthouse climb. This calendar lists what's running in Corolla year-round, plus everything dated between now and the end of November across the wider Outer Banks, closest to the house first.
Open all season in Corolla
These run continuously rather than on a single date, and every one of them is within a few minutes of the house.
Currituck Beach Lighthouse Climbs
Daily, 9am–5pm, through Nov 30
220 steps to the gallery deck of the 1875 working lighthouse. $13 for ages 4 and up, weather permitting — closed during thunderstorms and on Thanksgiving Day. Climbing season ends November 30 and reopens March 21.

Worth building a weekend around
Of everything on the calendar, these three draw people back year after year.
Duck Jazz Festival
Sat 4–6pm · Sun from 10am · Duck Town Park
Saturday is a Concert-on-the-Green set; Sunday is the full two-stage festival with gates at 10am and music from 11am. Bring low chairs — parking fills early, so walk in from the Duck boardwalk.
Outer Banks Seafood Festival
Sat, 10am–6pm · Nags Head
The anchor of the fall calendar: local catch, working-waterman storytelling, live music, and family activities on the waterfront.
Corolla Village Christmas
Fri–Sat, 4–8pm · Historic Corolla Village
Thanksgiving weekend turns the village lanes into a free evening market: 30-plus local artists, craft hot chocolate, food trucks, live music, a wreath-making station, and Santa reading to kids.
The full calendar, by month
Distance is given as an approximate drive time from the house. Confirm dates and times with each event's organizer before traveling — small festivals reschedule around weather more than large ones.

Where to See the Wild Horses in October
The Corolla wild horses live north of the paved road year-round, but October — after the summer crowds and heat both ease off — is one of the better months to actually spot them.
